The State of Washington has as many climates as there are regions with rain forests, farmland, warm plains and alpine forests. With these climates, come unique and tasty products. Walla Walla is known for its onions, the best apples come from Eastern Washington and wineries have become a great success around the entire state.
This part of Western Washington is famous for great, mild weather. Average temperatures range between 70-80 degrees during summer months and between 45-50 degrees during winter months; average rainfall is 37.19 inches per year. Despite the reputation of the Pacific Northwest as a rain-soaked place, the actual average amount of precipitation in Seattle is less than that of most Midwest and East Coast cities such as Chicago, New York, or Washington, DC.

In the summer, Seattle has 15 hours of daylight and star filled skies. In the winter, there is soo much to do that the rain, (actually mist more than downpours), will rarely keep you inside. The air is so clean and crisp that you’ll find many people outside walking, biking or even rowing in "the rain." There is also a lot to do in the evenings. There are a ton of clubs downtown, a year round symphony, a fantastic theatre and world known ballet troupe.
To see the weather from the highest point in Seattle, visit the Space Needle, erected during the 1962 Worlds Fair. Whether rain or shine, enjoy a wonderful meal in the refurbished Sky City and a visual feast looking over the Emerald City. For up to date weather in NOW Time, visit the Space Needle Weather Cam.

Seattle never gets really hot or cold because it is protected by the Cascades to the East and the Olympics to the West. You won’t see much snow in Seattle, but you don’t have to go far to find it. For full day sports, the Puget Sound provides many waterways for all kinds of fishing and boating activities. Snow skiing, mountain biking, climbing, sailing and rock climbing. While Seattle is known as a coastal city, it is really a hundred miles away from the ocean’s shore, which makes it too far away for the Pacific Ocean's storms to be a problem but close enough for an enjoyable weekend campout.
